Huge Thanks to all the Community Living front-line workers!

This is a tiny ode to the people at Community Living, especially those on the front-line.

I’m so thankful for everything you’re doing on a daily basis to look after Mich.

She’s healthy and doing well. I know it’s tough work, even before covid-19 it was a lot of work. Sometimes Mich can be a handful. She and I are very much alike in that sense. I know I’ve been pestering you with phone calls on a pretty regular basis these days. Hopefully that’s not bothering anyone too much.

Today is Michele’s 50th birthday, and I heard that she had a very exclusive birthday party. Apparently no more than 5 people were allowed, while fish, chips, and chocolate brownies were served. There’s also talk of someone having worn a lovely party hat.

I had visions of something a little different for her birthday this year, but things haven’t quite worked out. New, strict rules have been decreed. I understand completely, though it’s difficult to come up with ideas for presents. Usually my mom and I will take her to the movies, or the zoo. She really does enjoy the zoo. Sometimes I’m less sure about the movies, but obviously that’s not going to happen this year.

I know that you likely have to sanitize much of what comes into Mich’s home. If I give her a physical object that’s definitely more work for you. I’m trying to be aware of that. I’ve been told that clothing and sheets are good because you can immediately throw them in the washing machine. So we’ll try to stick with that.

Anyway, all of the little things you do every day add up to make a huge difference in Michele’s life. There’s no way we could do any of this without you. I may be disappointed that we didn’t get to throw Mich a raging, 24-hour dance party this year. (Why did I wait for her 50th to do that? Don’t worry, I’ll start planning now for next year.) I do know that she’s in good hands, and I’m quite grateful for that.
